Generative work is creating. Nothing is asking for it. No notification triggered it. The work exists because you decided it should exist.

Both are real work. But they require completely different cognitive states.

Reactive work can happen in fragments. Generative work requires consolidation — the mental tower you're building collapses if you interrupt it.

This is why the morning window matters. Not because mornings are inherently magical. But because mornings, for most people, are the last refuge of uninterrupted time.
