In Sickness and in Health

Hi folks,

We have seven things to share today:

  1. You may have noticed this update is coming from the service called Buttondown instead of Tinyletter. Tinyletter announced that it is shutting down in the near future so we made the switch.

  2. This past Monday Liam had surgery to put tubes in his ears and remove his adenoids. Praise God with us that this surgery was a success! He can hear so much better and (for now) our whole family is healthy!

  3. A few days ago we started an advent book with our children. It has been a good reminder of God's goodness to us and to the world. We are hopeful that this will be a daily anchor for us to focus on Jesus throughout the Christmas season.

  4. Despite all four of us getting the stomach bug over Thanksgiving break, it was still a lovely time to spend with the Kiley side of the family. We have been reflecting on the fact that these are likely some of the last holidays with our family for a while.

  5. In order to better prepare to move to Japan, and to finish partnership building, I have given my notice of resignation at work. My last day at Nationwide Insurance will be December 22nd. Please pray for our family as we make the transition. We will be living off of our personal savings until we start with OMF as missionaries.

  6. Praise God we have over 60% of our support for Japan! We are hoping to be at 100% before the end of April which would allow us to leave for Japan in July. Please pray that the Lord would provide financially for us. If you are interested in partnering with us, please click here.

  7. On December 7th I will be going to a hematology appointment to get my blood evaluated. My recent CBC came back with some oddly shaped red blood cells. Please pray that this does not develop into a serious health issue.

Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support. We are so thankful for all of you for joining us on this mission. We hope you have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Love,
Jake, Liz, Liam, and Laurel

P.S. Did you like this week's email structure? I "stole" it from writer Austin Kleon's newsletters. His book "Steal like an Artist" is in my top 100 book list.
