#1 - Skin

Let’s start off easy.

You’re going to keep your promise to your friends.

Hi.

I’ve been struggling for a long time, trying to figure out what to say about…anything.

My creative juices have been limited to the tiny-key-lime-squeeze that is an Instagram caption.

I have so much to say about so many things. Life after treatment for an eating disorder. Life after 40. Life after weight loss (spoiler: it ain’t all that, especially if it’s tied to maladaptive behaviors). Life after (near) death.

Anyway. Something easy. Skincare.

My brief, probably misinformed and ill-advised routine is comprised of (mostly) budget friendly products that are tried and true (for me, for meee, for meeeeeeeeeeee). Most days, I don’t have the energy to do more than a few steps so this will be short and sweet. Things aren’t in order, so don’t tell me I’m doing it wrong because I know I’m loud and wrong. I believe in treating the skin with ruthless aggression care and kindness.

  1. Ethereal Cleansing Oil

This is one of those things where a little bit goes a long way, but you’re gonna want to IMMEDIATELY run and purchase a backup. Micellar water and makeup wipes break me out, but this does not. It truly breaks down errythang on your face, including waterproof mascara and sunscreen. Would I repurchase? Yes.

  1. Hyaluron Bubble Pop Cleanser

This is a face wash. This is probably the step I’m least fussed about because of the fact that it generally isn’t on my face for very long? As long as it doesn’t feel unpleasant, I’m good with targeting my most pressing “concern” at the moment. As we’re headed into the frosty Texas winter, it’s the potential for dry and stripped skin. I feel not-so-squeaky clean (this is a good thing) and ready for the next couple of steps. Would I repurchase? Eh, Maybe.

  1. Clarifying Peel Pads with Salicylic Acid

These bad boys don’t dry me out like the Stridex pads did, but they get the job done. I love being 40 and still having a baby face, even if it means you get the total package (if you catch my drift). Also, let this stand as a line in the sand: skin things ARE NOT MORAL FAILINGS. Unless you intentionally tan in excess, knowing the dangers involved. That’s on you, fam. Wear sunscreen, use bronzer and apply the self-tanner, babes. Would I repurchase? Hell yeah. Gimme another hell yeah.

  1. Hyaluron Exfoliating AHA Treatment

This feels so good on the skin. It does exactly what it says on the label. Would I repurchase? Hell yeah. Gimme another hell yeah.

  1. The 6 Peptide Skin Booster Serum

Same as above, rinse and repeat. I do notice a difference when I don’t use this product. Would I repurchase? Yes.

  1. Hyaluron Skin Essence

This is incredibly moisturizing and it doesn’t feel oily at all, unlike other essences I’ve tried. I feel like I look dewy and glowy. Would I repurchase? Yes.

  1. Milk Marvel Dark Spot Serum

So this is the big ticket item on the list. I bought this during the Sephora sale last year and it has definitely done the job. But I feel like I’ve got some other pots on the burner that might get the job done at a lower price point. I feel bad for being this way because I love so many products from this brand, especially the lip balm. But… *wildly gestures at debit card* I just literally cannot. Would I repurchase? Probably not, but only because of the price point.

  1. Hyaluron Moisture Cream

My skin loves this moisturizer. It’s non-greasy, hydrating and leaves me with a great base to work with. It doesn’t feel heavy, even when layered with sunscreen. Would I repurchase? Hell yeah. Gimme another hell yeah.

  1. Aqua Bomb Depuffing Eye Gel

I don’t use this every day, only when sleep is elusive, like, I don’t know, trying to bottle a fairy in a video game or something. But it gets the job done. One click is enough for both eyeball areas, so I’m fine with the price point (especially when I can catch it on sale).

  1. Reusable Makeup Remover Pads

Finally, in the interest of creating less waste, other than the Sephora product, all of this is done with reusable cotton rounds. I just throw them in the wash in the little baggie they come with and they’re good to go over and over!

SO. That’s it. I’m going to try to really stick to this. REALLY.
