Well, it’s been a minute. Believe it or not, if you’re getting this email, you did, in fact, subscribe to this newsletter once upon a time.

[2026-08-04] OpenAI is Dropbox, Anthropic is Box.com - I know, yet another “AI” think piece, alas. Anyway here’s the gist:

Briefly: Dropbox’s business is a hardware-constrained commodity that competes directly against the world’s largest and best-capitalized technology companies, all of which possess huge structural advantages that limit Dropbox’s upside. OpenAI is just the same.

The rest of this writeup will just expound on this a bit more.

Again, I’m not going to inline it here, on the principle that you probably have had enough of this sort of thing from other vectors.
