#70 Best Album of 2000 Tournament: Week #4 Wrap-Up
Hey folks!
Week #4 of the Best Album of 2000 is now ovah! We had one upset — #88 Goldfrapp’s FELT MOUNTAIN over #41 Doves’ LOST SOULS — and a number of new records. To wit:
On Tuesday, we made Best Album of 2000 tournament history when the KID A/THE UNUTTERABLE match generated 134 votes, 99 of them for KID A. This defeated OutKast’s STANKONIA by 15 total votes and two votes, respectively. It also tied the STANKONIA/CRYSTAL GAZING LUCK AMAZING match for vote differential (+65).
On Wednesday, we made Best Album of 2000 tournament history with the closest match yet, with Jayhawks’ SMILE eking out a win over Sonic Youth’s NYC GHOSTS & FLOWERS by three votes.
On Thursday, we made Best Album of 2000 tournament history with our very first delayed match. I had a minor family medical emergency, which involved sitting in the hospital nearly all day. Everything’s fine, so that’s great. A little annoying, though? Sure.
On Friday, we made Best Album of 2000 tournament history with the lowest vote total of any match so far (93 votes). Friday is a bad day for voting? Not a lot of passion for Johnny Cash and/or Songs: Ohia? Just random? Who knows!
