#472 Best Album of 2001: Week #8 Wrap-Up

Best Album Brackets Logo #2.jpg

Hey folks,

PRINCESS SUPERSTAR IS outta here. More like Hope-less Sandoval. Four Tet, your campaign to win the tournament has been PAUSEd. Kaija, Saaryalater. PRETTY much gone.

The eighth week of the Best Album of 2001 is over! Everything went much as expected, with the one glaring exception being the #79 ENDLESS SUMMER triumphing over #50 PAUSE by two votes. That one was pretty rock ‘em sock ‘em in the home stretch, as the albums were jockeying for lead the entire time. Another hour, who knows what the result would’ve been. I also want to note that #15 AALIYAH defeating #114 BAVARIAN FRUIT BREAD by only 36 votes (and not even breaking 100 total votes) is, generally speaking, a pretty terrible performance by a top 15 seed. AALIYAH faces ENDLESS SUMMER next round, an album that actually got more votes. Potential upset? Stay tuned!

On Friday, #47 Death Cab for Cutie, THE PHOTO ALBUM vs. #82 Sloan, PRETTY TOGETHER, 102-83-2. (187 total votes, +19)

NEXT WEEK’S MATCHES

Wednesday, May 20th: #26 Jimmy Eat World, BLEED AMERICAN vs. #103 Janet Jackson, ALL FOR YOU.

Best,

Kent
