#459 Best Album of 2001: Week #6 Wrap-Up

Hey folks!

The sixth week of the Best Album of 2001 is over! The biggest news is that we had another upset, in that #69 10 000 HZ LEGEND defeated #60 TENACIOUS D by six votes. An upset in the sixties isn’t that remarkable — these albums were basically tied in terms of seed votes — but worth noting anyway, since this usually means a number of people got dinged in the prediction brackets. Furthermore, while matches usually bring out Bluesky posts supporting one album or the other, this one… did not. I think Jessica, below, sums it up pretty well.

Perhaps more subtly remarkable was that #28 I GET WET’s win over #101 BEAUTIFUL GARBAGE was only by 17 votes. This is almost an exact replay of last week’s Bob Dylan/Wu-Tang Clan match, where #20 “LOVE AND THEFT” defeated #109 IRON FLAG by only 18 votes. Historically-speaking, that’s some massive overperformance by two 100-seeds. Is everything okay with the seed voters? I’m a little worried about TOXICITY and THE COLD VEIN, honestly.
