#322 The Best Album of 1989, Round 2 Match #74: XTC vs. The Cult

Best Album Brackets Logo #2.jpg

Hey folks!

First pic: A cartoonish drawing of the members of XTC done in a psychedelic, YELLOW SUBMARINE (the movie) way. It's full of color, lots of reds, yellows, oranges and deep blues. One figure is playing a guitar, and the neck of the guitar is turning into the airstream of a jet fighter airplane. Another guitarist sits on a bass drum labled XTC. Behind them is a guy playing standup bass. There is a pink horn shooting out oranges and lemons behind them. Second pic: A photo of guitarist Billy Duffy, a white guy with long hair that completely covers his face. He's shirtless save a vest, and wears leather pants. He's taking a triumphant pose, with one hand pointed in the air, the other hand on the neck of the guitar, and his legs spread out -- he forms a kind of triangle shape. This is in front of a heavily distorted close up of singer Ian Astbury, his head thrown back and a microphone in his hand. This picture of him is almost totally in red, with some green highlights.
