#320 The Best Album of 1989, Round 2 Match #72: The Replacements vs. Mekons

Best Album Brackets Logo #2.jpg

Hey folks!

First pic: A black and white high contrast close up photo of Paul Westerberg, a white guy. He's looking at the camera and has one hand placed in front of his mouth. His eyelids are droopy. His hair blends into the blackness of the background. Second pic: So this appears to be a drawing or painting of a white man with dark hair and an intense stare -- it's possible it's supposed to be Elvis Presley. But it is radically obscured by an overlay of colors and patterns. The patterns suggest trees and/or leaves, with various color filters (orange, blue, red) applied.

Thanks for all your support! Also, this week, I’m asking everyone to tell me their one (1) favorite 2001 album that they think is obscure. I’m going to highlight those choices in a future newsletter. You can DM me over at Bluesky, or respond here via email if you’d like to join in.
