Best Album Brackets Logo #2.jpg

Hey folks!

You’ve been shut down, BUZZ FACTORY. It’s -30- for you, 808 State. UHF, U R outta here. Robyn, the QUEEN is dead. It’s a pear shaped world, Chris.

First complete week of Round 2 is over! Again, everything went pretty much as expected. We had one upset, if you can call at #97 seed defeating a #96 seed an upset. (We can, it is, and we do.)

Below are the usual columns, The Best Album of 1989 Prediction Bracket Top 20, Last Week’s Results, and Next Week’s Matches. Tomorrow, look for a special edition of the newsletter as I present my 16 favorite albums of 2001 for your consideration for the upcoming Best Album of 2001 tournament. Spoiler: nothing too surprising if you know my tastes and what was “in” in 2001. There will be more special 2001 editions of the newsletter in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.

THE BEST ALBUM OF 1989 PREDICTION BRACKET TOP 20

Here’s Week #2 of the Best Album of 1989 Prediction Bracket, and not a whole lot of change. Breathe! Breathe! Breathe! Breathe, You Bracket! stays at #1 for a second week, while CORNY and Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Picks each move up one to #2 and #3 respectively. The biggest movers are Prognostication Street and Deep Dark Truthful Bracket, each moving up 5 notches this week. And we have two debuts, style. class. love technique. and 6 Feet High and Drivin' N' Cryin’. Welcome! The biggest droppers this week are PRETTY much HATE tin MACHINE and How many times will this bracket get a flat?, both falling five places to tie at #17. And gaining two bracket debuts means we lose… three from last week. (Don’t ask how that works.) Say goodbye, for now, to Tin Roof, Bracket (last week #16), 5-Piece Chicken Dinner (last week #16) and ice cream slipping into a crack (last week #9). Hope to see you again! You have plenty of time to claw your way back onto the chart.

Oh, and the final column in the chart is the highest position that bracket has achieved so far, and if it’s blue, that means it attained a new high this week.
