#289 The Best Album of 1989, Round 1 Match #46: Pop Will Eat Itself vs. The The

Best Album Brackets Logo #2.jpg

Hey folks!

First pic: I'll do my best with this one. So, the background is black save for the silhouette of the continents of the world, which are filled with black stars. In front of that, in a circle in the middle, is the nuclear radiation sign. The numbers 1 through 12 are around it, forming a clock, and by a white wedge in the circle, it looks like it's a few minutes to midnight. Emerging from the circle, and arranged around it, are five blue grey robots. These robots are formed using the letters P, W, E, I, arranged one on top of the other, so that the P is the head, the W is the body, the E are the legs, and the I are the feet. Finally, in between each pair of robots is a small pink silhouette of a sattelite, also emerging from the circle. Second pic: A headshot of The The's Matt Johnson, a white man with his head shaved short, with a receding hairline. He has a dark brow and pointy stubble. He has a very serious expression on his face, but with a slight wryness, which if you've heard his music, makes sense. The photo has had the background removed, so his head appears to float in a white blank nothing.

THIS IS THE DAY... THIS IS THE HOUR... THIS IS THIS! is my favorite album of 1989, but I was not able to write a Designated Cheerleader for it in time for this match. If it wins this round, I’ll have one for Round 2.

Thanks for voting!
