Now wait a minute — is a seed like the #1 seed considered “higher” (because it’s a better ranking) or “lower” (because the number is literally smaller)? This always confuses me and I suspect I switch meanings all the time, thus confusing you. Sorry!

If we’re being consistent with the way people talk about March Madness and other bracket tourneys, #1 is a higher seed than #2. But I agree it could be confusing!
