We currently stand at 122 ballots entered, and the previous Best Album of 2000 tournament had 123, so I’d like to think we can meet or beat that this time around.

Late 80s and 90s country was basically twangy pop, really not different than say, the Monkees (complementary). HILLBILLY ROCK is 33m of that, just catchy tune after catchy tune. Don’t fear the twang!

Also! The Young Fresh Fellows’ THIS ONE’S FOR THE LADIES is not on any streaming service or YouTube, but thanks to Best Album Bracketeer @renamj.bsky.social, you can download it right here. If you’re familiar with Scott McCaughey of The Minus 5 (and R.E.M. touring musician), this is his old band. Also features Kurt Bloch of the Fastbacks on guitar!
