#210 1989 Recommendations from the Best Album Bracketeers!
Hey folks!
Hard to believe, but it looks like the nomination period for the Best Album of 1989 bracket is nearly upon us. This Monday, April 7, I will open up a Google form for you to submit nominations. The nomination period will run from April 7 to April 21, so two weeks. Also, the form will be set up so you can add or delete your nominations until the nomination period closes, so if you hear something new you like during that time, you’ll be able to nominate it. I’ll be going over all the nomination stuff again in a separate newsletter on Monday, so don’t worry ‘bout it. (Nobody’s worried about it —Ed.)
Last week, on Bluesky, I asked you, the Best Album Bracketeers, because that’s what I call you, I asked you folks to suggest one album you’d like people to hear before the nomination period. Below are the results. If you click on the title, you’ll be taken to either YouTube, Spotify, and in one case, Bandcamp, and in another case (Eleventh Dream Day’s BEET), a Dropbox folder because that’s the only way you’ll be able to hear it. Some of these I’ve listened to, most of these I haven’t, but I’m going to make an effort to hear them all before the nomination period is over. I will say, if you haven’t already, please check out Jane Child, Jody Bongiovi, and an obscure underground band called Fine Young Cannibals.
