#199 Best Album of 2000 Tournament: Week #27 Wrap-Up
Hey folks!!

Welp, this is it. Next time you hear from me, we will have crowned the Best Album of 2000. In fact, we’ll know just after 9am CST on Friday, February 28th. And we know it will be one of four albums, the first four seeds in the tournament: OutKast, STANKONIA, PJ Harvey, STORIES FROM THE CITY, STORIES FROM THE SEA, The New Pornographers, MASS ROMANTIC, or Radiohead, KID A.
Next week, we’ll start talking about the next tournament, the Best Album of 1989. But until then, I hope everyone votes in these next four matches. The schedule for next week is at the bottom of the newsletter.
THE BEST ALBUM OF 2000 PREDICTION BRACKET TOP 20 COUNTDOWN
This is the last week for the Prediction Bracket Top 20, as the next time you see this chart, it will be the final placements for everyone. While You have GOT to be Kid A-ing me! is the sure winner based on points*, the actual winner could still be almost anyone.
The top three remains the same as last week. There’s some big late movement from Melody of Certain Damaged Brackets (up 6 to #10), Vampire Bill, talking to his cat (up 7 to #11) and My Bracket is More Sad and Painful Than Yours (up 8 from #20). Crying at the Idioteque makes their first top ten appearance at #8, up four. The biggest dropper was Brians over Baghdad, falling 5 to #12. We had four debuts, all re-debuts: Rated R you serious?, sctttnnnt, and KID B all tied at #15, while Aarcraft revisited at #19. We also lost five brackets: 100 Broken Brackets (last week #7), Kid B(eeson) (last week #11), PRDCTR (last week #16), former #1 bracket And He Also Made False Predictions (last week #19) and Drink Milk (last week #20). Hope to see you on the last chart, but let’s face it, we probably won’t.
* Every week, I give each the brackets a number of points based on position, i.e 20 points for #1, 19 points for #2, 18 points for #3, etc. The points winner usually will win a prize along with the prediction bracket winner, but it’s all based on how many empty slots there are after the nomination period for the next tournament, and that’s still at least a month away.
