#149 Best Album of 2000 Tournament: Week #18 Wrap-Up
Hey there folks,
Another week is done, and no real surprises, as all the higher seeds largely crushed their opponents. If there was one surprise, it’s that the #31 Shellac vs. #34 Primal Scream match wasn’t closer. If it seems like this round has had a lot of curb-stomping, my memory is that is normal: the first two rounds are about culling the weaker albums, more like sacrifices to the top 32. Next week, though, we may see an album from the bottom percentile earn its way to the Top 32 of 2000, which I don’t think has happened in the modern (post-1995 & 1994 tournament) era. Be sure to catch that one!
THE BEST ALBUM OF 2000 PREDICTION BRACKET TOP 20 COUNTDOWN
Once again, a standstill at the top three, but a little more interest elsewhere. I Made Our Wedding Band Learn “Our Way to Fall” moves up two to reache a new high of #4. (Below, I’ve noted where a bracket has reached a new highest position by coloring it blue.) The Color of Molasses and Like Water for Chocolate Starfish both reach new highs of #7 and #8 respectively. The biggest movers all moved in a group: Brians over Baghdad, Rated R you Serious?, O Twitter, Where Art Thou?, and Kid B(eeson) all moved up 7 notches this week. A number of brackets fell, but none fell like The Bewiderbracket. After zooming up to #4 last week, it falls 15 notches down to #19. Two debuts this week. The Votes Made by Sheeple comes in at #19, and Your Grandchild is a Bracket, Not a Pay Check, redebuting at #14, has now spent 3 non-consecutive weeks on the chart, debuting then dropping off. Let’s hope it stays around next week! Speaking of which, while we had two debuts, we had three brackets drop off: 100 Broken Brackets (last week #18), Crying at the Idioteque (last week #15), and I’m Sorry Ms. Harvey, I Am Surreal (last week #15) are gone. But hopefully will return!
