#112 Best Album of 2000 Tournament: Week #11 Wrap-Up
Hey folks!
Week Eleven is ovuh!
Only about two weeks left of matches until the end of Round One. This means a) the rest of the tournament is going to speed by (if this is your first tournament, you’ll be shocked how quickly it wraps up after this point) and b) we’ll soon be talking about the next tournament, which will be 1989. Not sure how I’ll be dealing with that in the newsletter; maybe I’ll talk about it in the daily match newsletter, or maybe I’ll save it for the weekly wrap-up. Stay tuned to find out!
Last week, we only had one upset, where #78 The Delgados defeated #51 Madonna by 14 votes. I feel like there’s something different about this tournament, in terms of the voting body (it’s much smaller than usual) and the voting body’s enthusiasm (you folks are really into it and actually listen to the albums). Meaning, this upset isn’t too shocking; THE GREAT EASTERN was lower seeded, probably due to lower name recognition, but it seems like y’all discovered its inherent quality and voted accordingly. (I’m not sure THE GREAT EASTERN wins in the Twitter version of this tournament, where a “name” artist can often cruise through on that name alone.) Not complaining; the opposite really. But it needed to be mentioned.
