Weekly Roundup - Issue #6
We are seeing the indian design twitter getting back to normal with the Twitter Spaces, Clubhouse sessions and Twitter threads so I guess nature is healing..
And so this newsletter is also back to its weekly schedule after the break. In this issue, I’m rounding up the audio sessions that I attended over the last week

Dharmesh hosted this space with Kishore, Shaheena, Arjun and other designers to give gyaan about the state of the Indian design industry. As the design industry attracts more newcomers, spaces like this help to defuse the artificial pressure that is being created. Aditya has summarized the takeaways from this space in this thread.

What initially was supposed to be a 101 session by Vikalp and Sahil pivoted into something else that quickly got overshadowed by the ‘Should designers code?’ argument. Nevertheless this session had its share of quotable quotes like “We can’t ship Figma” by Anup. I hope Vikalp and Sahil are able to come back for another session to discuss this.
P.S. The last time we discussed documentation on twitter, Varun Pai wrote this post about doing design handoffs remotely.
P.P.S You can check out Mayank‘s post on how they built the Gojek design system here.

Anirudh has been regularly hosting well moderated twitter spaces and last week’s mid week checkin had me laughing out loud. It’s great to have a space to just shoot the breeze.with other designers with no pressure to discuss work.
P.S. If you are running a team, you should consider setting up something like this in-house. I’ve been co-running a daily checkin space for my team since March 2020 and I believe it has helped the team bond remotely.

Tejas and Souvik are arguably the nicest people in the Indian design industry and I’m glad that they are starting this new series to talk about the messier parts of running creative studios. You can subscribe to their channel here.
