State vs. Values — A New Blog Post About Great Software Design
It is Wednesday, my dudes folks.
This week brings a new blog post based on one of my favorite technical talks, Simple Made Easy by Rich Hickey. The talk covers some great fundamentals of simple software, and how we often confuse “simple” with “easy.”
There’s a single slide in the talk that covers the “Simplicity Toolkit,” or what ingredients make up simple software.
That single slide is one of the densest pieces of advice I’ve seen in my career. As a bit of an homage, I’m hoping to put together a few posts dissecting some of the items on that slide.
The first from this week dives into State vs. Values. Enjoy!
Simple Made Easy: State vs. Values
P.S. As an aside, I’ve got another side project in the works. I’m rebooting an old thing I called the Cult of Less. If you’re interested, give its about page a read. It should be ready to go in the coming weeks!
