Book Review: Extreme Programming Explained
Hi Folks,
This week is a review of the seminal programming book, Extreme Programming Explained. If you can’t tell, I’m on a bit of a kick with reading decade-old programming books.
This one, much like Domain-Driven Design, stands up to the test of time. Many of the lessons of XP Explained are now common practice in many engineering organizations.
I picked up this book after a colleague of mine at Gusto had recommended it. We use many XP practices on some critical software (payroll and health benefits). It’s amazing to see how sticking to XP can keep release cycles short and quality high, even as the engineering organization grows.
P.S. For those new to the newsletter, I recommend checking out one of my favorite posts from last year: Visualizing a Job Search or: How to Find a Job as a Software Engineer.
