Health Update from NIH
I haven’t stopped vomiting in weeks; first I was at the Jersey Shore Medical Centerr for nearly a week in the ICU, and then I was brought to my home away from home here at the NIH.
At NIH, they called code blue when my blood pressure skyrocketed and I closed my eyes so I’d remember it; the way they room flushed with peoples and what felt like as seemingly hundreds of electrodes were placed on my chest.
I spent the next 2 days in the ICU.
I just remember my mom in the corner, lines etched into her face.
I’m still here and it’s been almost 2 weeks total inpatient.
But my resilience is a renewable energy source, so don’t worry.
I will try to become a happy warrior.
But the truth is determined to come out, and I’ll let it.
Pain won’t define me. But I won’t pretend to keep the secret that illness devastates.
I’m tired of making my parents cry.
I am ready to get better.
