October Roundup
It's been a strange month for me. One of possibility and direction. Only for it to change a few weeks later. It's weird when that happens. You make plans for how life will be in the future, but the universe has different plans for you.
So what has this got to do with you? Nothing, I guess. I'm rambling and reflecting on this past month. It's just that things change. Quickly.
But something that may have to do with you is that I have enrolled on a 'Therapeutic Coaching For Women' Diploma, which starts in January.
What is ‘Therapeutic Coaching’?
The role of a traditional coach is well-known. They provide support, guidance, and structure to help you achieve your goal.
A great coach can help you organise your thoughts, identify potential pitfalls, and uncover your innate problem-solving potential. In most cases, they help you see things from a different perspective, which can help you succeed.
The main focus of traditional coaching is on the present (your current situation) and the future (what you want to achieve), as well as how you can reach your desired goals. A coach may provide a model or framework to guide you through the process of achieving your objectives.
This traditional coaching is something I have done for 20 years.
Therapeutic Coaching on the other hand, is a unique approach that aims to increase awareness, understanding, and clarity about problematic situations.
Unlike traditional coaching, it recognises that many present-day issues stem from past events and beliefs. Therefore, it involves gentle exploration of long-held beliefs and historical events to help better understand current situations. Through this process, we can gain specific insights, which ultimately lead to greater self-awareness, emotional healing, and personal growth.
Exploring our "Somatic Narrative" is also a crucial part of the therapeutic coaching process. It involves understanding what's happening in our bodies when we talk or think about painful or problematic experiences.
Although this approach differs significantly from traditional coaching, it has been proven to be a potent method for assisting individuals in identifying and unearthing their authentic emotions and feelings, which are frequently at the root of their difficulties.
Put simply, 'Therapeutic Coaching' is a gentle, supportive, and in-depth exploration of the root causes of perceived problems. It helps to gain a better understanding of the origin of these problems, leading to the creation of long-lasting solutions.
It aims to raise the consciousness of women by empowering them to understand the transformative power of pausing and becoming more present in their own lives. This, in turn, allows them to gain new perspectives and priorities, and create compelling visions for their futures.
If I'm honest, I enrolled for selfish reasons. I have so much shit that holds me back from so much, and I want to coach myself. That said, I still work with women, write about women, and speak to women. I want to know more about what we need as a tribe and what I can do to help make the world a better place, even if just for one woman.
Note: I will be needing some case studies along the way, so if this is something that you'd be open to, please let me know!
Posts published this month
I've been slow this month, hence why I have highlighted my intentions for November below to give myself a kick up the arse.
Let Them Come
Sometimes, we have a grasp on life. Other times, our thoughts cause a wobble. We feel like we are so close to the edge that we might just slip. But wobbles are normal. They are not a step backwards despite them often feeling that way.
The Difference Between Equality and Equity
Equality is where everyone is treated the same. Equity is where everyone gets access to the resources they need to achieve their own success. And that's how we achieve equality.
Embracing the Unknown
I am a planner. I want to know everything before I start something. I like control, and I need to know how things are going to pan out. But we can't control everything. We can't know everything. I am well aware of this.
Take Your Turn to Fall Apart
I have spoken to so many women over the last few months who are struggling. Who feel broken, crazy, lost, insane. Who feel like they are falling apart. Who have hit their capacity to cope. Whose batteries are dead. And the spark they once felt has gone.
Intentions for November
One year, I will sit down in November and write my novel along with the NaNoWriMo community. But instead, this month, I am using it to try and publish as many days as possible.
I am also intending to send these via email to you with a roundup at the end of the month. So be prepared for a daily visit from me in your inbox, where I share some more bits I've learned along the way (and maybe some of my random thoughts too!)
