First Week in Sweden
Hi Everyone,
I officially start classes on Monday. (Labor Day in the U.S.) I had orientation last Thursday and Friday and I’ve already met quite a few people from all over the world. Most of the international students are from other European countries, but I did meet another American.
I bought a bike and have started commuting with it. It takes about the same amount of time to get around town by bike as it does by car. It’s hard to believe, but it’s true. They have designated bike lanes here that are on the sidewalk. And they have bike racks everywhere. I’ve already bought groceries and filled up my little basket. It attaches to the back of the bike. When I ride to the university, I pass by the castle. I think I’m acclimating well.
Although, I didn’t know they have mosquitoes here. (Swedish mosquitoes are huge by the way.) I had to buy bug spray. Windows here don’t have screens, so I’ve already had a few bugs fly into my apartment. I might need to invest in some nets.
I have to sign off since it’s getting late here. I hope you all have a great rest of your weekend!
