Issue #181 - Keyboard Builders' Digest
Keyboard Builders' Digest // Issue #181
Check out this week's editorial with awesome projects, tips, ideas, meetups, discount codes, etc!
Hey y'all,
These past few days have been pretty busy: the monthly switch overview, two reviews, and the first advent calendar articles starting to trickle in.
-
The November switch list, highlighting last month's community-favorite mechanical switches, became the most visited post. The write-up is based on real sales data provided by 14 vendors, representing 1.2 million switches sold.
-
I reviewed the Velvet v3 by Ergohaven, a beautiful split with classy contours, keywell, hotswappable switches, and Vial support. Beside prebuilt and barebone kit options, the project is also open source!
-
My first mouse review: the tri-mode Dareu A980 Pro Max is a highly customizable companion for gaming and office use. It has a TFT display btw.
-
In the advent calendar, Jack and Bethany write about the history of Pikatea, as they're closing their keyboard and macropad store.
-
David discusses why he started Kool Keys, and what making high end cables entails: the costs, equipment, trials and tribulations of being obsessed with making the perfect cable.
-
Projects: An ultra-low profile unibody split keyboard by Travis Mick, inspired by Le Chiffre: Le Oeuf.
-
Arnau Bago shared his Pi Pico based 34-key split: the Selenum S.
-
The VOID by Allen Choi is a 3x5 ergo split with some splay and displays.
-
The Anywhy Flake by Max is a 46-key ergo split with a minimalist, no-frills design.
-
An ultra-low-profile split with Kailh PG1316 switches: LowKey36 by Matt Gilbert.
-
The CapriCorne is a low-pro split with reversible PCB -- designed by Skreddvik.
As always: much more projects and resources in my weekly (sort of) editorial write-up, switch database, MK meetup calendar and keyboard shop database - with 500+ keyboard vendors!
