10497 Galaxy Explorer
I finally bought 10497 Galaxy Explorer, a deluxe LEGO spacecraft set that is an upscale version of 497 Galaxy Explorer from 1979.
Just look at the package! The bright yellow color, robot, and minifigs with plain faces. While I didn’t have the 497 Galaxy Explorer by myself, it reminds me of the days I built my own stuff with LEGO all day.
The 10497 Galaxy Explorer was gone from a nearby LEGO store last week or so. At that time, I was half relieved. The set was really tempting, but I had been trying not to be a LEGO collector.
Then the set was back somehow. I couldn’t resist anymore. It was a stressful week. Maybe it was destiny.
So I built the half with my kids. It was great. Too great that I could convince myself other sets wouldn’t be this great. Or maybe they are. Everything could be awesome.
