Happy Summer! I guess. If you're into that kind of thing. I'm a winter person, honestly. But! Despite, you know, basically everything currently happening in this country, as well as everything that has happened previously throughout its history, I do enjoy the 4th of July. It's my problematic fave, from the hot weather to the questionable grilled hot dogs to the climate-damaging fireworks.
Folks, we need to find our joy where we can.
Personally, I'll take a day off where I can get it, and also? I live in a weird little town with weird little traditions and a weird little July 4th parade. I love to see it.
ANYHOO. Are you aware that there's an incredible auction of books, author and writing services, crafty things, and other fun stuff going on? AND! It benefits two voting rights organizations: Fair Fight and VoteRiders. Romancing the Vote is back for a third time, and so far this year they have raised well over $100,000 for voting rights.
It's so easy to get discouraged right now. It's important to remember that we can all do something, no matter how small, and that a whole bunch of small somethings add up to a lot. Do what you can. Don't give up. Every tiny action, every tiny difference made, counts and is worthwhile.
