I often hear people talk about all the adventures they would pursue if they could quit their jobs and follow their dreams. It’s a sentiment many of us share. Every once in a while, someone actually makes the leap. Here’s the story of one man who did:

Justin’s story reminded me of a bet I once placed on myself: choosing to focus on building Big Talk instead of pursuing a traditional career. Along the way, I worked all kinds of odd jobs to make it possible. More than ten years later, the Big Talk book is a culmination of the conversations, experiences, and life lessons gathered along that winding path.

Whether you're dreaming about a change or simply reflecting on where you are right now, here are a few Big Talk questions you can explore on your own—or with someone you care about:

• If money were no concern, how would you live your life differently?
• If you lost your job today, what dream job would you pursue?
• What does success mean to you? How has that definition changed over the years?
• What do you want to do before you die?
• What resources or people might you turn to for guidance and inspiration?

I am reminded of one more Big Talk conversation with a 90-year-old woman who pursued her dream of living in Europe in her 60s:

Sometimes the most powerful step toward a dream isn’t quitting everything—it’s beginning the conversation.
