the new show
how to with john wilson on HBO, which is such a delightful surprise (my elevator pitch is
nathan for you crossed with
billy on the street, but fragmented and so visually dense and textured)
the new sofia coppola movie on the rocks on apple tv+, which is probably not worth watching, even if like me your favorite movie when you were twenty was marie antoinette and you have soft spots of varying size for her other work; bill murray is as bill murray as ever in it (which is a thing i like!) but the other characters are all so single ply toilet paper thin and the plot is stupid.
that said, i'm still thankful i watched it because
the soundtrack hit me right in the musical sweet spot as her soundtracks always do, especially the clairo song "
sofia" (a strokes song, softened) and michael nyman's "
in re don giovanni" (minimalist sunshine)
other songs i love right now: "
golden" by harry styles and "
positions" by ariana grande
i haven't run outside in a week because of a cold snap but i think it's going to be sunny and still enough that i can go this afternoon after work
yesterday i rehydrated some dried morels that our parents gave us and made a sauce with them and some leftover portabella mushrooms and butter and the strained soaking liquid and that was quite good with pasta and roasted asparagus
