thank you notes 7/9

i'm thankful to have completed my second week at the new job. i'm thankful that every day seems to be getting better, though i'm thankful to cross my fingers here as i think this since i don't want to jinx myself. i'm thankful for the moment when my supervisor praised me for stepping up and doing a good job and i said that i was really happy to get to work with so many great people and she replied "me too!" i'm thankful for that and for several moments of camaraderie i shared with my new coworkers yesterday. i'm thankful that we'll have a team reunion in september where the team (most of which lives other places) will come here and i'll get to meet and hang out with them in person.

i'm thankful to have stayed up past my bedtime last night to finish reading problems. i'm thankful it was really great. i'm thankful that next i think i will either read another samuel r. delaney book or maybe the mirror thief or maybe supremacist. i'm thankful for d's frequent titters and giggles while she rereads the rook, one of her contemporary favorites, in advance of reading its recently released sequel, stiletto. i'm thankful that even if it hasn't gotten great reviews, maybe we'll watch the movie high-rise this weekend, since anything with elisabeth moss in it can't be all that bad.

i'm thankful that d's peaceful floral wallpapers were featured on one of her favorite websites yesterday. i'm thankful she made dinner again last night and everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. i'm thankful for her cherry tomato plants, some of which are now populated with tiny green fruit. i'm thankful for the bag of rainier cherries that we bought at the supermarket, which seem pretty similar in flavor to the other cherries we've bought recently but feel somehow more refreshing, which may just be a placebo effect or the psychological effect of their beautiful yellow-orange sunrise gradients but is nonetheless effective. 

i'm thankful that instead of meditating or doing yoga last night, i cleaned the kitchen, which i had let get very dirty this week. i'm thankful that i broke down empty boxes and cleared away clutter. i'm thankful for our dishwasher, which we use as an extra drying rack for glasses rather than as an actual dishwasher. i'm thankful thick quilted paper towels and magic erasers and pleasantly scented dish detergent. i'm thankful for the opportunity later today to clean the rest of the house in the same way. i'm thankful for the peace that i feel when i am in a clean and orderly house.
