i'm thankful for the green knight which was so fun!!! i'm thankful that though i was skeptical of it, as a person who doesn't really get excited about fantasy, it won me over by being constantly and deeply stylish, a joyride of visual play. i'm thankful for some of the mashups i was trying to think of after the movie to describe its aesthetic, like: kubrick adapting the hobbit while watching the seventh seal every night*, tarantino trying to be tarkovsky (and failing, but in the best possible way), a coked up terrence malick forced to make a bunch of short films and stick them together.
* a biographical fact about kubrick that has always stuck with me, which is that in his later life he would eat the exact same meal morning, noon, and night for weeks at a time (at which point he would switch to another meal for the next few weeks), which is similar to the classic "wear the same outfit every day to remove the need to make that choice from your life" but to a much more intense degree i can't imagine.
i'm thankful the movie theater we go to here has reclining seats (which is especially helpful if you buy tickets late and can only sit in the front couple of rows—you don't pay an ergonomic penalty for that as you can in classic seats and it might even be better as a viewing experience
i'm thankful for nobody, which we watched last night after dinner (i'm thankful that my family has always enjoyed watching things together) and which did not blow my mind anyway is a competent and entertaining john wick knockoff.
i'm thankful DMing about love island with friends
i'm thankful that everyone liked the salted caramel brownie oreos i bought for dessert and that between us, we finished the whole package.
