ride into the sun
1. spencer is riding his bike to all the national parks and it's been really nice following his journey, which has been arduous but full of beauty and wonder, and this morning when i checked my stories there was a picture of him riding off into a big warm sunset in chicago with frank (who lives in chicago) riding ahead of him 💕.
2. the demo for "ride into the sun" by the velvet underground, which didn't get an official release on one of their albums but is such a great pop song. i'm thankful that i googled it to get a link to share with you and learned something that i never knew, which is that there was a version with lou reed vocals which is looser and freer in a way that really suits the song: the tone and aesthetic changes from post-byrds AM gold to late night tape still running in the chateau wild horses couldn't drag me away jam and it loses the bridge and outro and becomes one long loop, over and over. (in other versions i didn't know about until right now there is also a nice instrumental and at least one live jam version).
3. it seemed like my phone had completely died unexpectedly yesterday but after plugging it in and waiting and learning the new variation of the magic restart incantation (used to be hold volume up and power button, now press volume up, press volume down, press and hold power button), d brought it back to life.
