how thankful i was to be rained on while out running yesterday afternoon,
having left the house to sunshine thinking there would be no rain and at a stoplight a few miles later looking at the weather and seeing that it would start raining in ten minutes, when i would be on the back half of my run,
which i was not excited about, since even if running in the rain sometimes provides a kind of energy and distraction from the slow internal discomforts of long distance running, it's also unpleasant, especially when your shoes get wet from puddles
and the rain started and was unpleasant, but bearable (thankful for the waterproof jacket that d found for me) and then it increased in volume, and was more unpleasant, but i was used to these kinds of unpleasantness
and then i started to feel these little stings all over my face (because it was a "nice day" i was not wearing a jacket with a hood or a hat), which i realized were hail
hail viewed from inside or under the hood of a thick down coat had always been a fun novelty but uncovered it hurt and i kept squinting because i was worried it was going to go into my eyes
and even though i wouldn't normally stop in the middle of a run to shelter from the rain, it just kept hurting and
and i just kind of kept going like this for a very long ten minutes, after which point it converted to rain, and
how thankful i was to be rained on while out running yesterday afternoon
(and even more than that, ten minutes later, when the rain stopped and the sun came out again)
