freeze-dried sour skittles
hanging out at k and t's on friday night, smoking a bloint outside their house (and it not being dark yet because the days are getting longer), margaritas with pellet ice, crudités, detroit pizza with the best cheese crust, crumbl "cookies" (one of them was just a tres leches cake, but "just" is not the right word there since tres leches cake is fucking awesome), freeze-dried sour skittles.
using mexican hot sauce on dim sum, which is an extension of my bit that siu mai is the taco of dim sum (it's small but bursting with flavor, it's messy and visceral)(also i know that the momofuku variant of pork buns is the taco of dim sum but imo that's too literal) and if somebody has not done a food truck siu mai taco at this point i'm so disappointed in the world (i mean of course i'm already so disappointed in the world but this seems like such an easy win)
ec used the word "clotheshorses" to describe the things you hang your laundry on to dry and we laughed that it was cute but that actually is the term. i pushed past my commitment to never create in physical media again to work on a friendship bracelet for frankie that i think looked quite good but 3/4 of the way got distracted by conversation and spilled all the tiny beads on the carpet, an experience which felt like the closest i may ever get to doing one of those survivor challenges where you build a jenga tower.
pullover hoodies, as a person who exclusively owned and wore zip-up hoodies for years. they're just more cozy and also they obviate really having to think about what you're wearing underneath them. doritos sticks (not to be confused with the doritos dinamitas, which suck) which are like the gen-z version of andy capp hot fries (this is a compliment). pre-rolled joints that have the form factor of cigarettes (they burn so much more evenly). yesterday my word of the day email's word was "opuscule" which sounds like it should gross but means "a small or minor literary or musical work." latest string of entries in my list of Things Reasonable People Love That I Hate: sobriety, blues music, jigsaw puzzles, tamales, Christianity, voice notes.
the concept of "stolen valor" which is people falsely claiming military service/honor but i think of it when deborah has left the house without me and she comes back and miso, as is always the case when someone enters the house after being away from an hour, is briefly joyful and loving and i quickly come out of my office to take advantage of this.
not watching the live action adaptation of "avatar: the last airbender" a show which is stolen valor. spending all saturday afternoon with d watching the remaining episodes of this season of love is blind. this perfect video of a guy doing bits from dune as characters from the sopranos. edith zimmerman is back to blogging at kottke. i caught myself trying to do work to get ahead of monday but stopped myself because i don't want to go back to that lifestyle and whether i finish it at the end of this sprint or the beginning of the next one is arbitrary and meaningless.
sarah m. telling me that she has a note on her phone called "Justin Wolfe is so smart," truly one of the greatest compliments i have ever received. this week's playlist is called "love on" and was inspired by my affection for the selena gomez song of the same name and a desire to dabble in polyglot girlie pop.
