after falling off the wagon for a season or two, watching the current season of the great british bakeoff, a lily gilded by the giddy silliness of noel field and matt lucas
the beckettian minimalism of technical challenge recipes
the way the show completely dispenses with the conventional reality tv false drama around narrowing down who the winner and loser will be, which is such a waste of space and does nothing but psychological harm to both contestant and audience

maybe my favorite episode of
call chelsea peretti, in which she performs as angie martinez for most of the episode and then is joined halfway through by her partner jordan peele playing iyanla vanzant and there's a moment where jordan as iyanla is riffing about burning sage, garlic, and cloves as an aromatherapy and chelsea starts laughing and says "YOU BURN GARLIC?"
other great guest episodes from call chelsea

season 5 of the american version of
the office, which i think is the peak of the show for me, especially the episode we watched last night during dinner, episode 19, "
golden ticket," which is so densely packed with ridiculousness.
