i'm thankful that the first evening of my work retreat went really well. i'm thankful to have gotten to meet a bunch of people who i've exchanged thousands of words with but whose voices i've never heard. i'm thankful that this was awkward and scary at first but became fun quickly i'm thankful to have overshared as i always do in ever social situation, but i'm thankful that i think mostly people found it entertaining rather than weird. i'm thankful to have played my favorite (/the only one i like?) board game, codenames. i'm thankful to have gotten to have a long talk at a warm pool with my friend e, who is the person who is the reason i work here. i'm thankful to have had two beers and to not feel any worse for the wear for that. i'm thankful to have gotten up early enough to have gone on a run through the trails here, which are beautiful, even if there are some really step hills. i'm thankful to stop writing this letter now so i can take a shower and get dressed and eat breakfast and officially start the day.
