7/21

being outside in the summer without being bitten by mosquitos (thankful for the lack of humidity and the elevation)

that i went hiking with d and my mom rather than going by myself (and still got a pretty good workout)

turning on the satellite view in google maps and realizing how, using the default view, with its flat-shaded polygons, robs you of so much useful contextual information about the space around you (though, i guess the default view is both more efficient in terms of data usage and also safer (by being less information dense and therefore less distracting) for people using it while driving

several recipes that have recently intrigued me, including this one for farro e pepe by samin nosrat (https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1020356-farro-e-pepethis recipe for a "blond" puttanesca (
https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1019399-blond-puttanesca-linguine-with-tuna-arugula-and-capers) and this one for a pancake called socca, which is made from chickpea flower and seltzer (

ice in drinks, which we haven't had for a while because the ice maker in our last fridge tasted bad, but which i love and which i feel helps me eat less by indulging my oral fixation (and yes chewing ice is bad for your teeth but what if that's offset by being good for my weight)

still eating way too much, because it is vacation and it makes my mom happy to feed us good things

hot showers
