i'm thankful for the beach we went to yesterday. i'm thankful for how from florida, i'm used to looking out at the horizon over the water and seeing only that, whereas here, at the horizon off the north side of the beach, there was a mountain, its outline flattened into a wood block print by fog and mist. i'm thankful for the surprise of how cold it was when a wave washed over my foot. i'm thankful that waves don't die.
