that when i am running outside in the springtime, i am not absorbing radiation except in the sense that we all are absorbing some from the sun every day of our lives, but not like the deadly nuclear fallout kind of radiation, which, ever since i watched chernobyl, i think about when i am out running on heavy pollen days, about the seemingly benign radioactive "fleas" (some kind of greek-lettered particle) that people would consume and that would, despite their small size, ravage a person's cells from the inside, especially since the last two days, going down a particularly verdant section of trail, i have inhaled some micro-cloud of airborne particles into my mouth and they've gotten stuck in the gum i am chewing to keep my mouth from getting dry and as i chew, i can feel the histamine response tingling against my gums and tongue and the roof of my mouth and then spit out the gum but it doesn't go away and then i come home and do a neti pot and take a benadryl and another double tap of flonase, both of which i am thankful for
for the video game slay the spire, which i have spent a large portion of this weekend zombified by on my switch (it's also on mac and windows), despite the fact that i have never really liked card battle games, which always seemed to be built around two experiences i strongly dislike, which are 1) spending money without knowing whether you'll get the thing you want for it and 2) doing math, and there is math in this game, but there's none of the acquisition experience, because all the cards you get in the game are randomly assigned and you can't take any of them from run to run and i am not very good at it at all and constantly die earlier than i should, which does not in any way impact the fun i am having, a fact which i think is a testament to how good and fun the game is
that i did not make myself continue to pay attention to the korean rip of detective pikachu that d downloaded and we watched on friday night, since even though early on it raised some interesting questions for me about the political atmosphere of the world pokemon is set in, what constitutes personhood there and the relationship between the city, in which pokemon are forced into the neoliberal prison of productivity alongside their human "partners", and the village, where they live wild, i got bored with it and i mostly don't like movies that are aimed at/starring children/teenagers (though i realize now that i haven't written about booksmart, which is my favorite movie i've seen this year)
that we sent in the deposit for the house we are going to live in starting in a month and that house is going to have a big fenced-in yard that we can let miso out into instead of walking her 4 - 5 times a day, which was my major want during the discovery process and which is going to make life so much easier.
that we ran out of tortillas this week while eating these (
https://www.howsweeteats.com/2014/01/brussels-sprouts-tacos-with-caramelized-shallot-salsa/), but we had some saffron rice in the cupboard, and i found that making them as a grain bowl rather than tacos was much more satisfying (also if you make them and are not vegetarian/vegan, cooking the brussels sprouts with some soft chorizo that you can get from the section of the grocery store where they sell packaged bacon levels up)
