i'm thankful for our new cordless vacuum cleaner. i'm thankful for the old vacuum cleaner, which my mom bought me eight years ago when i first moved here and which i just ordered a new filter for so we can clean it up and donate to goodwill. i'm thankful, though the old vacuum worked perfectly well for so long and probably would have kept working for longer, the new vacuum cleaner is very nice—light, handheld, and cordless, yet still powerful enough to get the kind of work we need it for doing done. i'm thankful for the satisfying snap the different attachments make as you slide them into each other. i'm thankful for the way the head swivels, which makes it easier to get into tight spaces. i'm thankful that its smallness means that we can keep it in the house instead of in the garage, and its cordlessness means that it will be easier to do an impromptu spot of vacuuming like how we wipe down a countertop. i'm thankful that though micro crumbs and specks of dirt tracked in from outside don't bother me as much as macro untidiness, i know that i feel better when the house is clean and i'm thankful to be hopeful that this new thing will help us be cleaner more often.
