5/10

the best weekend of the year so far

talking about strategies for approaching a box of chocolates with friends

trying a new drug for the first time, drug testing safety kits

ec hadn't listened to grimes before so i made her a mix of my favorite songs

the fun of thinking about sequencing and transitions in a playlist, which is an enjoyable creative activity i should do more

d and i having a backyard we can hang out in for the first time in our decade together

the two beach loungers that d got us at target for $26 each to put in the yard, which are blue and white striped and comfortable enough to lounge in all afternoon

lounging all afternoon yesterday and then going out again after dinner, when it was unpleasantly hot inside the house but perfect outside

i didn't hurt myself hauling the air conditioner out of the basement and up into the bedroom and it still does the job

at kroger, i finished bagging sumo mandarins and was heading back to the cart when a security guard called out to me from her post at the entrance to the store and i flinched as i always do but then she just said that one of the mandarins i had picked was bad and pointed at it within the bag she was right and i thanked her and then congratulated her on her amazing vision to have been able to see that from the entrance and she laughed

paletas in three different flavors

bought my mom a bunch of books (her preferred gift) for mother's day and d got her flowers

finished rereading anathem, which i think is the best neal stephenson book by miles (one of his only books that doesn't fall off a cliff at the end)

listening to reaching' (a new refutation of time and space) by digable planets, my favorite summer album, for the first time of the year

summer as a time to revisit things, the concept of a "beach read"

our yellow roses are coming in
