i'm thankful that i spent part of yesterday evening aimlessly and joyfully watching youtube videos and the preroll ads that air with them. i'm thankful for the person who mocked me for this and i'm thankful not to care about being mocked for this. i'm thankful for this loft ad starring jessi klein, which made me laugh. i'm thankful for this bizarre and disturbing commercial for a bear-shaped snack, which also reminded me of this zelda meme that d spent a long time trying to explain to me and which i eventually got. i'm thankful for this flarf-ish performance by anne hathaway. i'm thankful for this stunning formalist domino video, which is like if jacques tati made a domino video.
i'm thankful for this article on the xanax aesthetic of streaming music. i'm thankful for how perceptively it describes something i love, even while dissecting what might be wrong with it being so pervasive (i'm thankful for the phrase "willing to replicate their softness in abundance"). i'm thankful for "pretty when you cry" which i didn't listen to very much when ultraviolence came out but which is really good (i'm thankful for how the beginning reminds me of a gothier "hotel california"). i'm thankful for the rappy bridges of "how many drinks" by miguel. i'm thankful that it similarly took me a while to appreciate "four five seconds" but i love that now too. i'm thankful for the engineering/production/mixing of the song "wild world" by cat stevens. i'm thankful for mirah.
i'm thankful, inspired by this tweet which i think i already linked to but was still thinking about, to have held my feet like hands and to have enjoyed the experience. i'm thankful to have brainstormed with friends about books as food and podcasts i would like to listen to/host. i'm thankful for the concept of an invisible goatee and for pictures of animals with cigarettes. i'm thankful for this painting. i'm thankful for chamomile tea. i'm thankful for chocolate chip cookies. i'm thankful when kourtney kardashian is happy (though i'm also thankful that people can also find happiness in making fun of her). i'm thankful for mary ruefle.
i'm thankful to get to watch the first episode of the handmaid's tale tonight. i'm thankful for the most recent episode of terrace house: aloha state, which had several incredibly affecting scenes of modern love and hate including one where two characters eat cold curry from the same plate and watch one piece without the sound on, which felt true to the kind of experiences of love i've had in my life. i'm thankful to have finished roadside picnic, which was aight but kind of underwhelming in comparison to stalker. i'm thankful to have started the new david grann book, which has already hooked me, and to recommend the old david grann books, both of which are amazing reads. i'm thankful that i had a slightly trying day at work but i'm thankful that it wasn't too bad (and i'm thankful to have heard from d about a change in my old job that made me ever more grateful than usual that i don't work there anymore). i'm thankful it's wednesday.
