i'm thankful for something d noticed that i do, which is that whenever i transfer my half of our rent into the shared bank account we use for that, i always make sure that the total ends up as a round number, even if that involves depositing more money than i'm supposed to. i'm thankful that her pointing this out made me realize that this is something i've done for years when e.g. transferring money from checking to savings: i will save more than i had planned or budgeted if it makes the number after the deposit look nice and clean. i'm thankful that of my many compulsive tendencies this is the one that is probably most benign.
i'm thankful that my pairing session with the friendly engineer yesterday was great again. i'm thankful for how patient he is and kind and excited to explain things and try new things. i'm thankful that like the week before, we went over our allotted time because we got too deep into the thing we were trying to do; i'm thankful that when at the end he said he felt bad because of how much we were banging our heads against the wall, i said that it was wonderful because while doing my homework, i had been banging my head against the wall by myself, so to share the experience with him was much better.
i'm thankful that when another coworker posted a picture of robert plant and seventies jimmy page (my all time boy crush) and two of my coworkers didn't know who they were, we shared in the moment and listened to led zeppelin iv. i'm thankful for an outside work convo i had with another coworker who had some concerns about her manager and i'm thankful that i think i was able to help and will hopefully be able to help more; i'm thankful that we ended the conversation with a string of communication purely in gifs.
i'm thankful for the chef kiss finger swiftian brillance of this post, which should be stapled onto every dumb complaint a conservative ever makes about college students stifling "free speech." i'm thankful for kimiko nishimoto. i'm thankful for chocolate ice cream with chunks of chocolate inside of it (i'm thankful for double chocolate, triple chocolate, for any chocolate multipliers).
