i'm thankful for the mystery person who sent d and i some of the world's best ice cream in the mail. i'm thankful for the multiple people who care about me who i thought it was (i'm thankful for the privilege of having multiple people like this in my life, and to hope that me thinking it was those people and asking them doesn't make them feel that i was expecting them to send me ice cream, which i definitely wasn't!!!) but it wasn't and to hope that the person tells me who they are so that i can thank them personally.
i'm thankful last night to have eaten brambleberry crisp ice cream while watching marie antoinette on netflix. i'm thankful for marie antoinette, which was my favorite movie when i was 20 and which i still feel fondly toward and has probably my favorite soundtrack of any movie. i'm thankful for brambleberry crisp ice cream, which has a huge deposit of brambleberry jelly in the bottom and around the edges of the pint so that when you dig in with your spoon you get both the rich vanilla ice cream and chunk of crisp floating in a sweet-tart puddle of liquid jelly.
i'm thankful for the japanese word
yabai, which the people who subtitle the bootleg terrace house episodes i watch translate as "insane" but in a good way (i.e "this brambleberry crisp ice cream, insane!." i'm thankful also for maji ("seriously") and sugoi ("awesome"). i'm thankful that it is supposed to snow 4-6 inches today, which is the most snow we've seen this winter and the prospect of which makes me exuberantly happy because i love snow (i'm thankful to imagine i will get to go for a tromp through it with d tomorrow). i'm thankful that snow is yabai, maji sugoi.
i'm thankful for the lead guitar part on "
nothing, not nearly" by laura marling (as well as all the other parts). i'm thankful that we haven't listened to
melodrama in a while and are listening to it now and it's still just as good as it's always been. i'm thankful that though i didn't get around to doing a best of 2017 letter because of vacation and now it feels too late, this would have to have been the album of 2017 for me. i'm thankful for toys that you can continue to enjoy because all of the tricks keep working evermore.
