i'm thankful that we moved the treadmill from the front of the house to the back of the house so d can have room for her new weight bench and rack in the front of the house. i'm thankful that though on our first try, the treadmill (which we hadn't moved since assembling) got stuck in the door jamb and could not be forced through, we were able to get it unstuck and then d had the idea to fold it in half, which is a feature of the treadmill we have never used but which worked perfectly for this scenario in which we had to get it through several very narrow door jambs. i'm thankful that though there was a mystery screw/washer left on the carpet after we moved it that we couldn't find a place for, it hopefully wasn't an important one. i'm thankful that we got the treadmill to its new location and it worked once we got it there.
i'm thankful for the treadmill, which we bought for like $150 on amazon and expected might break quickly based on the comments about how you shouldn't buy a $150 treadmill but which has been going strong for more than a year with heavy use from two people (i'm thankful to believe in jinxes and so to knock on wood after saying this). i'm thankful to not have to go outside and run when it is cold and dark, which i used to have to do in winter because the alternative would be to feel what it feels like in my body when i don't get to exercise, which is not something i like to feel, especially in addition to SAD. i'm thankful to remember when i recorded an EP of fall/winter songs called SAD (
1,
2,
3,
4) despite the fact that at the time i was living in miami beach and there was no fall and no winter and i was just plain depressed. i'm thankful to have remembered about the UV lamp i have in a drawer and which i should probably start using since i'm not outside as much as i used to be.
i'm thankful for this phone call with god from the end of future sex:
"We encountered a phone booth from which we could call God. I picked up the phone and spoke to God.
'Good morning,' said God.
'Is it morning?' I asked.
'It's morning where you are,' said God.
'Where are you?' I asked.
'I'm everywhere,' said God.
'This is why people don't like you anymore!" I wailed, and hung up the phone."
i'm thankful that to have learned about pythagorean cups from
this book. i'm thankful that i've never really much liked
milk as a beverage. i'm thankful to be an adult and to not be forced to drink milk with dinner as i was during my childhood, since i think milk is a gross accompaniment for many foods. i'm thankful to like any righteous person love milk in cereal and am thankful that i and my coworkers recently mercilessly mocked a coworker who said that she sometimes has cereal with water and "a splash of milk for color," as if this is some bizarre food styling assignment rather than a meal she is eating as a goddamn human being (i'm thankful that i pondered whether there was a reality show about food styling and
of course there was; to digress, i'm thankful to
share this rage)(i'm thankful my coworker also likes peanut butter and chocolate BUT NOT THE COMBINATION OF PEANUT BUTTER AND CHOCOLATE). i'm thankful for this old conan bit about
nathan fielder's instagram. i'm thankful for
andy richter.
i'm thankful that work is difficult and overwhelming, but i still continue to do it. i'm thankful to have rededicated myself more properly to my yoga process, in terms of doing proper guided sequences (i'm thankful for the yoga studio app, which is what i tend to use) and focusing rather than lazily doing a semi-random assortment of the moves i like best while listening to a podcast. i'm thankful that i can feel a definite difference in my body between those two types of practice, which helps. i'm thankful for
square breathing. i'm thankful john berger's family "
hid drawings, poems & a pen in his coffin, then threw sand, a red rose, lipstick & whisky into his grave." i'm thankful for
this asmr podcast in which two australian ladies. wanda and paula, whisper into sensitive microphones. i'm thankful for the
annual holiday episode of the great debates with john mayer and bj novak. i'm thankful for
this version of the white album compiled from acoustic demos, which you might want to listen to soon, before it gets taken down.
