i'm thankful, in other trash disposal news, for how nice and easy it is to take out the trash at this house versus our last house. i'm thankful that unlike there, when taking out the trash was a weekly test of my physical and emotional endurance, taking out the trash here just requires putting stuff in a large trash can and wheeling it from the top of the driveway to the end of the driveway.

i'm thankful for all the dumb stoner forum posts that appeared when i searched "the weeds dentists" to try to find the recent episode of the weeds podcast where they discuss a CRAZY white paper demonstrating how arbitrary and profit-driven dental treatment can be. i'm thankful to have been on this beat for years.

i'm thankful to have found a bunch of my favorite pants in a box of "winter clothes" that i opened yesterday to get out my down coats. i'm thankful that i had just assumed that i had fewer pants than i thought i did and had gotten rid of some in the move but actually it was one of those things where you make a decision while packing for a move that feels totally rational and considered and then completely forget about it until you open the box again.

i'm thankful for super mario odyssey, which is pure delight. i'm thankful for the video game concept of the easter egg and i'm thankful that this game feels, most of all, like an easter egg hunt, a game which exists solely for the purpose of hiding easter eggs in interesting places and then empowering you to find them and to feel happy when you've done so. i'm thankful for playgrounds.
