Yes! It’s real! This September I am lucky enough to have my first-ever solo gallery show: Page Turns. Featuring more than 25 pieces of art, including work from my upcoming debut picture book, Page Turns explores the art of picture-book making.
It’ll be hanging in the CAP ArtSpace in the Tompkins History Center on the Commons all month, but if you want to eat some snacks and see some secret sketchbook pieces, come to the opening of the show on September 5th, this coming Friday! I’ll be there from 5–8 pm, talking about books and eating tasty snacks :)
I could not be more excited, honestly. I spent the first three months of this year feverishly illustrating work I couldn’t show to anyone. I’m incredibly proud of what I made and I can’t wait to share it with y’all!
Happy Monday, minnows!! I bring you on this thankfully-temperate day an offering of early access to my wares! After a whirlwind of a summer market season, I’ve finally had the chance to breathe, restock things, take pictures and feed everything to the online shop gods.
If you like to look more than read, head right this way! Or keep reading to find out what I’ve made.
First up: a brand-new print of a piece near and dear to my heart! That’s the header image up there. These are native minnows, swallowtail shiners, and I love them dearly.
Hello, friends! This email is from Julian Plum, but you’ll notice that I’m writing from a new domain, showing up a little differently in your inbox.
It’s been a wild summer, and I'm a little under the waves of work, trying to swim through it all, but I’ve been meaning to do this for a while. Substack, where this newsletter used to live, just keeps platforming the very same people trying to strip away my right to exist in this country, and frankly, I don’t want to share a space with them or support Substack at all.
What does this mean for you? Not much! You’ll keep getting sporadic update emails from me about shows, markets, and more. If you want even more behind-the-scenes work, as well as a special discount code, a free secret sticker every year, and stuff like that, you can hop right over to my shiny new Patreon!
I’ll dive right in without beating around things: it’s been a chaotic summer and fall for me! The last time I sent a full newsletter was forever ago, and at some point this winter once I’m out of deadline hell (positive) I’m going to restructure how this newsletter looks & feels so it’s easier to keep up with. Keep your eyes out for that, but in the meantime, here’s a list of holiday markets I’ll be at as well as some Etsy shipping deadlines to make sure you get your orders before the holidays in December!
Good morning and happy it’s-really-looking-like-fall! I’ve been hard at work over here in my studio working on an October art challenge—more about that in the proper newsletter—and, more importantly, getting my inventory filled back up! Y’all were fantastic at Apple Fest. I’m blown away. I truly never expected to sell out of 13 different designs. Wild!
