August 2026 Updates
Happy August!
It’s interesting navigating having pride in covering disability issues while dealing with negative symptoms of disability. Just some musing.
Here’s what I’ve had published this month.
August 3: The Great Inflammation Panic (I’ve been working on this since last year, so I’m relieved that it’s out).
August 4: Right-Wing Media Is Attacking Francesca Hong for Mental Health History
August 13: A Trump Judge Called Mail-In Ballots a Threat to Democracy
August 19: How Trump’s Deportation Machine Deprives Deaf People of Their Humanity
Here is a recording of my disability and journalism panel at SF’s Disability Cultural Center towards the beginning of the month. I was on the Joan Esposito radio show on August 4 talking about a variety of articles; listen here. Here’s a Conspirituality Pod episode featuring me about my inflammation article below. I was on Texas Standard on August 21 talking about the experiences of Deaf people in the deportation machine. And lastly, here’s a Q&A I did on my journalism career as a disabled person for Andrew Pulrang’s newsletter.
