A birthday letter from Twin Peaks Café
Hello Friends.
Tomorrow will mark another lap around the sun. Somehow still here. Still collecting books, songs, notebooks, little rituals, strange thoughts and birthday cards I refuse to throw away.
This past year was a strange one.
It was hard in ways I didn’t always know how to explain while I was living through it. There were months when everything felt heavy, when I stayed home more than I wanted to, when work took up far too much space in my head, and when finding my way back to myself felt like a much bigger task than it should have been.
But somehow, when I look back at the year as a whole, I don’t only see the difficult parts.
I see Budapest and books and swimming and very late-night thoughts. I see little trips, Bad Bunny, notebooks, cups of tea, songs that became attached to particular moments. I see baking something that came out perfect. I see returning to writing. I see this little corner of the internet becoming more and more mine. I see new ideas, new things to learn, new places I want to go.
I SEE FUCKING OASIS TICKETS FOR 2027!!!!!

I see myself slowly remembering that my life is allowed to be made up of things that have nothing to do with work.
There were things I had to let go of, too. Old stories, old expectations, old friends, old versions of myself that I had been carrying simply because I had gotten used to carrying them. Some of them left quietly. Some of them needed considerably more drama. Obviously.
And I think that's what makes this year feel so difficult and so beautiful at the same time.
It wasn't a year of everything magically falling into place. It was a year of putting things back together. Of figuring out what still fits and what doesn't. Of making room of my own. Of remembering what makes me curious, what makes me laugh, what makes me feel like myself.
Maybe that's what I want to take with me into another year: not the idea that everything needs to be easier, or perfectly figured out, or beautifully wrapped up.
Just more of this.
More books. More writing. More music. More little adventures. More ridiculous plans and tiny rituals and things that make an ordinary Tuesday feel a little bit magical. More spells.
More life, basically.
So here's to the year that was - difficult, unexpected, occasionally ridiculous, and somehow very beautiful.
And here's to whatever comes next… ☕️
Here is a special, birthday edition of “This month I've been…”
📚 What I’ve been reading
The Camel Club by David Baldacci (E-book) - I fell in love with Baldacci’s writing on vacation. His books are page-turners!
Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout (Hardback) - I am halfway through and already heartbroken.
🎬 What I’ve been watching
Love Hypothesis on Amazon Prime - such a feel-good film, with amazing chemistry and so much giggling!
Slow Horses on Apple TV - Season 6 is airing now, week by week and it’s my Wednesday ritual.
🎧 What I’ve been listening to
In Defense of Sunlight by Rowan Jacobsen (Audiobook) - basically 2 minutes in the sun a day (please wear your SPF always) and things will get better.
(What’s the Story) Morning Glory by Oasis. Because of course!
✍️ What I’m writing
Finished up post about nostalgia (coming soon) and am writing about being 33 now (also coming soon).
I am also writing a lot of video scripts for my channel, and one of them is about Oasis songs and matching books. It will be a fun one!
🕯️ Little rituals & little magic
Trying out a lot of new tarot spreads, and sometimes they roast me. But my favorite recent ritual is just words.
Say it with intention. Watch it happen.
💌 A little birthday archive
Well… You probably have noticed my birthday card collection. Some of them are so old - the earliest I found is dated 4th October 1997. I was 4 years old!
If you are wondering what’s a perfect gift for me, card is always the answer. Card, postcard, your handwriting and words that you actually mean.
☕ One little whimsy
This month’s whimsy? My nails. I am absolutely obsessed with how they turned out. So beautiful and unhinged. Right?
Here’s to another year of becoming, un-becoming, reading too many books, buying notebooks I absolutely do not need, finding songs that become little time machines, and making a life that feels increasingly like my own.
