Compact and Planetary
January Edition
Happy New Year! Like millions around the world, I rang in 2026 accompanied by the ball drop on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. The Times Square Ball, at once “compact and planetary” (Neruda, line 14), reflects last month’s commitment to keep not only my individual contributions but also the systemic developments of my areas of interest in perspective:
The progression from tabling in New York City to watching the words “Let Them Be Kids” illuminate the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia marked a powerful materialization of the path from advocacy to policy.
The introduction to other Toastmasters chapters will allow me to practice my public speaking skills in front of gradually larger audiences.
The transition from conducting legal research for an appeal on an individual case to a Compliance/LegalOps Lead role will help attorneys focus on high-value work and improve client satisfaction across multiple projects.
The addition of connecting with educational leaders, like aspiring Montessori school founders, complements working with students directly as an Orton-Gillingham practitioner and through homeschooling.
With regard to the last update, which people or resources would you recommend to learn more about starting a school?
Until next month!
Warmly,
Judy
