🕺 RailsConf 2025
Just a week and a half away! The Judoscale team is excited to roll into Philadelphia for some Philly cheesesteaks, great jawns, and a little Ruby on Rails 😎. If you’re also going to be at RailsConf, keep an eye out for our booth. Believe me, you won’t (be able to..) miss us. Fun marketing gimmicks? You bet we’ve got ‘em! Overly talkative sales people? Uh.. no, we don’t have those. Just the 2.5 of us. With about 0.5 people worth of extroversion between us. What could go wrong!? 🙃 Can’t wait to see you all there.

Speaking of RailsConf... we’re going to have a TV at our booth at RailsConf. As it turns out, the logistics of getting a TV into a booth at a conference are no small endeavor. And, wildly, the logistics of getting a TV out of a conference are even worse! So here’s our pitch: if you are going to RailsConf and have the means, desire, and will to take a large TV with you at the end of the conference, you can have it! We’re going to buy one once we arrive and set up our booth, so we’re talking about a brand new, 50-70” (TBD), TV. Just reply to this email and let us know that you’ll take it! If lots of folks reply we’ll pick a random number and let you know.
📝 Autoscaling: Proactive vs. Reactive
🎉 Hot off the Judoscale presses! A fresh article that talks through Proactive and Reactive autoscaling... which serves as a soft announcement of a major new feature in Judoscale: utilization-based autoscaling for proactive capacity! Judoscale can now autoscale you ahead of time — before queue time spikes — in order to ensure that you always have enough capacity headroom to meet your application and traffic needs! We recently released a new feature that’s already been helpful for us and many customers: longer history in Judoscale’s metrics charts! Now we can all say scaling, queue time, and throughput history as far back as 7 days (rolling) from live. Why did you scale up to 100 dynos Sunday morning? Time to find out!!

Heroku officially released their “Fir” platform last month and Judoscale was ready! While those of us in the common runtime may be stuck with Noisy Neighbors for now (Fir is only for Private Spaces at the moment), Judoscale is ready to help our Private Spaces friends with top-tier queue-time-driven autoscaling — fully Fir-ready.
